PetIQ (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by PetIQ when you use our mobile application for pet care, health tracking, and AI-assisted pet wellness.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide a seamless pet care and health-analysis experience.

• Account Information: Your name and email address provided during registration through Firebase Authentication, including when you sign in with Google or Apple.
• Pet & Health Data: Information you add about your pets, such as species, breed, age, and weight, along with health log records you create (vaccinations, medications, weight history, and vet visits).
• AI Triage Content: The text descriptions, photos, and audio recordings you submit when describing your pet’s symptoms for an AI-assisted health assessment.
• Nutrition Scanner Content: Photos of pet food labels and product information you submit for nutritional analysis.
• Location Data: With your permission, we use your device’s location to find and display nearby veterinary clinics on the map. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
• Activity & Usage Data: Daily metrics you log (such as water, activity, and mood), and information on how you interact with our features, including AI assessments, suggestions, and credit usage.
• Payment & Subscription Data: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and credit purchases, which are processed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. We do not collect or store your credit card information; all billing and receipt validation is handled securely by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat.
• Diagnostic Data: We collect crash reports and diagnostic information through Firebase Crashlytics to keep the app stable and improve performance.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain pet profiles, health logs, and reminders.
• To analyze submitted symptoms, photos, and audio and provide AI-assisted triage and wellness insights.
• To analyze pet food labels and provide nutritional information.
• To help you locate nearby veterinary clinics.
• To manage your credit balance, subscription, and account settings.
• To send you reminders and relevant notifications via push messaging.

3. AI Data Processing

• AI Providers: The text, photos, and audio you submit for triage and nutrition analysis are processed via the OpenAI API to generate health assessments, nutritional insights, and content suggestions. Audio recordings are transcribed to text using OpenAI’s transcription technology.
• Privacy Standard: Data sent to our AI partners is used solely for real-time analysis to deliver your results. We do not use your personal or pet data to train third-party AI models.
• Not a Substitute for Veterinary Care: AI triage results are for informational purposes only and do not constitute professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical decisions about your pet.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following providers to power PetIQ:

• Firebase (Google): For authentication, push notifications, and crash reporting.
• Google & Apple Sign-In: For secure account authentication.
• OpenAI: For AI-driven analysis, transcription, and content generation.
• RevenueCat: For secure subscription and credit purchase management, in conjunction with the Apple App Store and Google Play.
• Google AdMob: For displaying advertisements within the app.
• Google Maps Platform: For displaying nearby veterinary clinics.

5. Data Storage & Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data and uploaded media. Photos and audio you upload are stored on our own private, access-controlled servers (self-hosted, S3-compatible object storage) — we do not hand your uploaded media to third-party storage providers. While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Children’s Privacy

Our service is intended for users over the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

7. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data.

Deleting your account or data:

• Option A (In-App): Open Settings → Account Info in the PetIQ app and choose “Delete Account” (registered users) or “Delete My Data” (guest users). After a confirmation step, the action takes effect immediately: your account is deactivated, your sign-in identity is anonymized, and your profile and associated records are removed or anonymized so they can no longer be linked to you. You are signed out right away. This action cannot be undone.
• Option B (Email): Alternatively, send an email to info@getpetiq.app with the subject “Account Deletion.” We will process your request within 30 days.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
